Note – this is an old one I forgot to post, hence the old stove top.
The best frozen pizza I’ve ever had was the American Flatbread Ionian Awakening variety. Though this wasn’t quite as good, I still give it a 9.5 out of ten.
The crust and cheese were perfect. The crust had almost a fried taste to it which helped set it apart from other brands.
The fried taste has to be related to the good amount of grease on this pizza. Just look at the picture! The grease made me feel very slightly sick afterwards, but that passed quickly.
The only real problem is the price. $5.98 for a for an 8.5oz pizza puts it at $.70/oz. For context, the average pizza I’ve eaten had a cost of $.30/oz. Had this been the same aize as your average probably 12in or so 28oz thin frozen pizza, the cost would come out to $19.60. Nearly $20 for a frozen pizza. I’ll still get these every so often, but that’s a lot of money for a personal size pizza when American Flatbread has competition from other much cheaper but almost as tasty options.
It may have a high price tag, but the “Sliced Tomato & 5 Cheese” pizza is a 9.5/10 based on taste and quality alone.
Purchased at HEB for $5.98. 8.5oz, $.70/oz.
