California Pizza Kitchen – Fire Roasted Vegetables

2015-12-26 18.17.42

This was more of an appetizer or side dish than a true meal. Though the taste was good, something was missing. My recurring thought was that the lack of meat combined with such thin dough really hurt the pizza. That doesn’t seem right seeing as how “thin and lacking meat” is basically the definition of this pizza and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed other thin meatless varieties, so I think this means it lacked substance. It was like I hardly ate anything at all.

Purchased at HEB for $5.86. 14.3 oz, $0.41/oz.

Fight’N Tomato – Pepperoni Pizza

2017-07-07 12.55.37

I thought “Fight’N Tomato” was just a catchy but meaningless name, but it actually refers to the overwhelming amount of tomato sauce on the pizza. Overwhelming to my taste buds at least. Too much for me. Almost all I tasted was tomato sauce. I’m sure there’s an audience for this, but I prefer tasting the cheese and toppings, too.

Purchased at HEB for $5.96.  26.3 oz, $.23/oz.

Screamin’ Sicilian – Lots of Pepperonis

2017-07-01 19.58.40

I first tried this pizza over a year ago but forgot to type a review!

When I first saw the box, I wondered if this was all gimmick.  The giant mouth is certainly eye-catching.

That’s not the case.

I’m happy to report that the taste is as appealing as the box.  This is one of the best frozen pepperoni pizzas (and best frozen pizzas period) out there.  Screamin’ Sicilian is right up there with Home Run Inn and California Pizza Kitchen’s pepperoni offerings.  Seeing as how I prefer thin crust, I was shocked to find a thick crust pizza I love so much.

The Screamin’ Sicilian Lots of Pepperonis lives up to its name. This thing was stacked with big, flavorful chopped chunks.

The pepperonis were held together by some of the gooeyest (is that even a word?), most amazing cheese in the world.  This is probably why it reminds me of a thick crust pizza from Pizza Hut which I haven’t had in years, but I rememer having very gooey cheese.  Also reminds me a bit of a BJ’s Brewhouse pizza.

Big thanks to Matt. He and my dad helped me build a shed before eating this for dinner. That involved 6+ hours in the Texas sun.  I’m happy to say he was equally impressed with this dinner offering.

I’m buying this again and crave more as I type my review a day later.

Purchased at HEB for $6.98. 22.30 oz, $.31/oz.
